Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions many people have prior to beginning therapy or life coaching with me. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact me and I will help you become more comfortable with the process before we begin.

Q: How long have you been in business?
A: I began my therapy practice in 1992 and added the life coaching component in 2001.

Q: What is your theoretical approach?
A: As a therapist my approach is eclectic. The strongest influence is solution-focused therapy where I help my clients figure out what they want to change and how to make that happen, rather than letting them dwell in the negativity of the past. Much of my focus is helping clients discover who they are and what changes need to be made for them live the happiest life possible.

Q: How long is a session and how many times a week should I see a therapist?
A: Sessions last 50-60 minutes. Usually clients come in once or twice a week at the beginning and then taper off as progress is made. I have a ‘revolving door’ policy where clients are welcome to come in on an as-needed basis.

Q: How long will I be in therapy?
A: Some clients are in therapy for a short time to deal with one specific problem.
Most clients come for 8-12 sessions and then continue on an ‘as-needed’ basis. There are others that continue therapy or life coaching for years to keep them on track and to have an unbiased and trusted sounding board.

Q: Where are you located?
A: My office offers a great deal of privacy. I work out of  my home in Kapalua.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Yes, insurance is accepted for therapy clients.
